This is a scan of my great great Grand dad's shore leave pass!
Which my nana has only just shown me.
His name was John W. Brisland and was a pump boy on the S.S.Empire Cobbett.
He was 57 at the time of this picture.
I absolutely love the look of this document and hope to somehow use it in an illustration!
I love this kind of thing! I recently came across some of my grandfathers letters from around the world - all the stamps are incredible and no one seems to have handwriting like that any more!

I know! I wish i could write like that. I love the fact the ink is purple as well. I am actually sad enough to be the proud owner of an envelope collection, featuring "stamps of the world" they just look great!
