Cheveux

And here we have it. The perfect hair of the vogue girls.

Vogue

As part of my final major project I'm looking at the representation of women.
As part of my research i'm simply drawing from different magazines in order to compare
how women are represented. For instance: Fashion mags, lads mags, housewife, gossip etc.
This time...Vogue. So far I've noticed that most of the images are really feminine.
Obviously some of the women within it's pages are more edgy or androgynous,
like the one that the above illustration is based on.
The feeling you get when you look at the magazine this way is that it focuses highly on the
concept of polished perfection.
All of the women are skinny and they all have nice hair...

Candy Floss

Oooh this just arrived in the post for me today!
It's the most beautiful dress from the 50's
I can't wait to wear it but will deffo need the weather
to warm up a bit before I do.
I bought the dress form etsy, it only set me back £15
not bad i think...

The midnight sisterhood

Feel like I haven't drawn anything new in a while,
I couldn't handle the lack of a pencil in my hand!
So...I did this.

The Girl in the Moon

Oh my, completely forgot to post this!
This is the result of my last uni project in which I had to illustrate and make a book.
I chose to make a children's book.
I called it The Girl in the Moon.

Shore leave

This is a scan of my great great Grand dad's shore leave pass!
Which my nana has only just shown me.
His name was John W. Brisland and was a pump boy on the S.S.Empire Cobbett.
He was 57 at the time of this picture.
I absolutely love the look of this document and hope to somehow use it in an illustration!

I simply remember my favourite things...

After getting a new digital camera the other day
I was prompted to show off some of my christmas presents to everyone!
Firstly I got an 80's romper! perfect for wearing for bed or as a beach cover up I think.
I also got an awesome bag, (I think I let out a little whimper when I opened it) from my sister.
It is hand tooled vintage leather, has a saddle and stirrups! I call it my 'saddlebag'.
I've attached my coyote's tail to it.
Not pictured is a beautiful vintage fox tail which is huge and is currently attached to my most large of bags.
Under that is some Jewellery; an antique polo broach, a gold triangle necklace (from etsy),
and I also got a double fingered ring which says love!
Finally is my Mr Pink Diana Flash camera. I also got a black holga which is great for easily slipping into your bag.
Expect to see some of my lomography (probably poor at first) up here soon!

Sunday Times Style- Use your Initiative

For a second week my illustrations are featured in the Sunday Times Style
Magazine, the zodiac feature!
The theme was getting back to nature.
Again I'm very pleased with how it looks in print.
What you see in the magazine is only half of the illustration I submitted so I may post it
at some point in the near future.
