Ren: Mother's Day Promotion

A few weeks ago I created an illustration for the skincare company Ren, for their mother's day promotion of their  rose otto bath oil. I  got to paint my favourite things, flowers and beauty products, so I was thrilled to be working on this!

Keep you eyes pealed for some more illustrations I have created for Ren, which I will be able to share with you very soon!

I also do recommend their day and night creams for the V-Cense range if anyone is struggling to find a good face cream to stick with, find it here: http://www.renskincare.com/c/facial-skincare_v-cense

Out and about...

Above are a selection of images from my Instagram account which show some of my recent work that you can find in various magazines.
I regularly get to create maps for Fabulous magazine, which I love doing, as I get to learn while I illustrate! Researching the different places beforehand to see what they look like and the general vibe that I want to portray is important in order to get the best outcome.
I also regularly create illustrations for the "How to…" beauty feature in Top Santé, a monthly women's health beauty and wellbeing magazine. Which include a step by step guide to getting the latest beauty looks.
And also, one of my favourites, Sunday Times Stlye magazine's "Can't live without.." feature, for which I illustrate a different beauty product every week.

I have been very busy of late and will be updating EVERYTHING soon with new work, so keep a look out!

You & Your Wedding Magazine

I'm thrilled to share with you all a commission I worked on a few months ago for You & Your Wedding magazine.
The issue has just came out and I was excited to pick up a copy and take a look.
I always love to see my work in print and in it's final form.

For the article entitled 'The Five Maids You Need" I illustrated five different types of bridesmaids
and also a second illustration of some accesories.
It was a lovely piece to work on which I thoroughly enjoyed and, am very pleased with the end result.

Life on film

Hey everyone,
I’ve got something very exciting to share with you all!
I make my on screen debut in my very own video! It is simply a little snippet of my life, how I work and what I love to do.
It was created by the very talented Sam Nicklin and shot in various locations. In my home studio, my home city of Newcastle and also in sunny Austin TX.
Enjoy! xXx

Young & Beautiful

Here are two portraits I've created using watercolours and digital methods.
The first is of Lana Del Rey, and the second fellow Geordie, Cheryl Cole.
Both beautiful ladies don't you agree!

The overall style of the portraits is very sweet and girly, so, right up my street.

I am indeed available for commissions so, for any brides to out there, custom portraits like these
could make a great gift to your bridesmaids. Or how about custom wedding invitations with an
illustrated version of you and your future spouse!

Can't live without...

Here are some of the illustrations I've been doing for the Sunday Times Style magazine lately.
Every week I have been illustrating the "can't live without" section,
where someone will share their must have beauty product.

It's such a great job as I get to find out all the great products out their without even looking!

Check it out every Sunday in Style mag!

B.B.

I'm loving using watercolours at the moment and am focusing on honing my skills!
It's such a different technique than pencil drawing (which I do a lot of) but is way more fun.
I created this illustration, inspired by Kate Moss's latest Vogue shoot, and of course Brigitte Bardot!
I wanted to capture the essence of 60's bombshell.

Fabulous Magazine

If any of you have the chance, check out Fabulous magazine today.
I created some beauty illustrations for one of their features!
It was such a fun project to work on, I adore drawing beauty products
and also love using watercolours to come up with a really lively illustration.

Zombie Nation

Halloween is nearly here! One of my favourite times of year!
I always like to do themed illustrations, and anything dark is a real treat for me
as I normally create quite girly illustrations.

Above is my interpretation of a zombie/frankenstein monster.
 I call her Frankie!
I'd say she still looks pretty glamorous even as the living dead.
It's not surprising as I based it on a photo of Zooey Deschanel
(who always looks gorgeous)

I've included a sketch, before it was coloured.
I coloured and layered it digitally which really let me play about with the whole composition.
I also added some vintage movie poster text!

What do you think?

Aurora

Here is my latest illustration Aurora
I created it using pencil, watercolour and digital media.

This will shortly be available as a print,
once I get round to sorting out my Etsy store!

I have already produced a print of this and have added silver stars
to the sky in the background.

It's rather subtle but works nicely with the delicacy of the piece.

Etsy store: Céleste print

A new illustration entitled "Céleste"
is now available as a print over on my Etsy store
as a mixed media/print piece.

It is essentially a print wjich I have then
drawn on top of with pencil,
and also painted onto using silver paint.

The result is that no two pieces will ever be exactly alike.
I like to work this way as i like to have the basic lines form which to draw
from, but also be able to add more definition and subtlety
which I feel are things that can often be lost when a
drawing is transferred to digital media.

My printer, although good, never gives me the full range of tones I want.
I want to be able to experiment and play around with a drawing
and not be too precious with it.
Scanning it and reproducing it gives me this freedom to play.

Top Santé illustrations #1

Here are some illustrations I recently did for the
September issue of Top Santé.
I drew a range of illustrations demonstrating different exercises.

It is quite a change to my usual style, but I do like to
change it up form time to time.

Progress 006

I'm currently working on a mixed media piece
for my Etsy store.
It's partially a print with pencil drawn over the top
(mainly shading and accentuation in the hair)
and also silver paint.
This one is A4,
I had started working on an A3 but I spilled silver paint all over it
so will have to start again.

While working I'm listening to Imogen Heap: Speak for yourself.
A brilliant album, which, for some reason is making long for
cold rainy nights spent cosy indoors and also snow.

//Happy Sunday//

Hi everybody! I've been terrible at posting anything lately,
but as it's now september, I'm in the "back to school" mindset!
it's time to knuckle down and do some serious blogging,
which for me means it's time to do some serious illustration work!

I've got a head full of ideas and also a healthy backlog of
previous commissions I've recently completed.
Also to maintain I have me newly improved website!
You can take a look HERE
It includes an archive of some of my previous commissions,
personal work and sketch book work.
All of which I'm still in the process of adding to.

Above are some lovely inspirational imagery,
which perfectly reflects my mood this morning!

Enjoy!
